Day 1

Arrive Tanzania

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro airport you will be met by Kilele Afrika representative and transferred to your hotel either in Arusha or Moshi. Meet your climbing guide for briefing and final gear check. Stay overnight at the base hotel where you are booked on BB

Day 2

Arusha| Moshi-Rongai Cave (6,398 ft to 9,300 ft)

08h00: After breakfast leave the hotel for the Kilimanjaro National Park gate at Rongai for entry registration then start the trek through path winds through corn and potato fields and then climbs gently through the forest which is home to a variety of wildlife, including the black and white colobus monkey. 12h30: Have packed lunch at a picnic site along the trail. 19h00: Dinner and retire for the day at Rongai Cave.

Day 3

Rongai Cave-Second Cave-Kikelewa Cave (9,300 ft to 11,300 ft, 11,811 ft)

08h00: After breakfast, ascend through moorland heading to the next night stop at Second cave. 12h30: Have packed lunch at a picnic site along the trail. 19h00: Dinner and retire for the day at Second Cave

Day 4

Kikelewa Cave-Mawenzi Tarn (14,160 ft -14,400 ft)

The hike today is short and steep up a grassy slope. Views of the wilderness area are stunning. As we exit the heath zone and emerge into the Alpine Desert zone, the landscape changes dramatically. Our camp is situated beneath the jagged spires of Mawenzi, at Mawenzi Tarn. The remainder of the day can be spent relaxing or exploring the area.

Day 5

Mawenzi Tarn-Mawenzi Ridge (14,400 ft -14,160 ft)

This is an extra day meant for acclimatization and can be spent day hiking on Mawenzi Ridge. The unique landscape offers motivating views of Kibo and Mawenzi. After spending a few moments exploring the area we head back to Mawenzi Tarn for camp.

Day 6

Mawenzi Tarn-Kibo (14,160 ft to 15,430 ft)

We climb gradually, then cross the lunar desert of the “Saddle” between Mawenzi and Kibo. Our camp, Kibo Hut, sits at the bottom of the Kibo crater wall. Once here we rest, enjoy an early dinner to prepare for the summit day.

Day 7

Kibo Hut-Uhuru Peak-Horombo Hut ((19,340ft/5895m)

00h00: Have a cup of coffee/tea and start the midnight trek to the summit via Gilman’s Point. 06h00: Reach the summit, Uhuru peak, have a short period of photo taking then descend to Kibo Hut for breakfast/Brunch and a little rest.  12h00: Continue down to Horombo Hut for the days and night’s rest.

Day 8

Horombo Hut-Marangu Gate-Moshi| Arusha

08h00: Walk down to the park gate then drive to the base hotel either in Moshi or Arusha where you are booked on.BB

Day 9

Moshi Kilimanjaro-Depart

Breakfast at the hotel then you will be picked for transfer to Kilimanjaro airport for your departure flight home| further holiday destination or start of safari.
